Recyclable Items

Paper and Cartons:

Empty and flatten all boxes and cartons. Tie shredded paper in a plastic bag. Staples, tape and plastic windows in envelopes are okay.
Books
Cardboard
Catalogs and magazines
Cereal and cracker boxes (remove liners)
Computer paper and office paper
Egg cartons
Gift wrap (no metallic/foil)
Juice boxes and cartons
Junk mail
Milk cartons
Newspaper and inserts
Paper bags

NO Blueprint paper, Carbon paper, Padded, plastic or Tyvek® envelopes, Foil-wrapped beverage pouches, Frozen food packaging, Metallic or foil wrapping, Napkins or paper towels, Newspaper dirtied with paint, pet waste, food/grease, Personal hygiene products, Photographs or photo paper, Pizza boxes, Plastic or wax liners from food packages, Straws, Stickers (in sheets or rolls), Take-out containers, Thermal fax paper, Tissues.

Metals:

Empty and rinse cans.

Aluminum furniture (plastic webbing removed)
Aluminum pie pans and foil
Appliances (small metal)

Food cans and pet food cans

Paint cans (remove excess, let residue dry)
Pots and pans

NO Hangers, Hoses, Keys, Nails, screws, nuts and bolts.
Fuel tanks (helium, propane, gas) are hazardous waste.

Glass:

Empty and rinse bottles & jars.
Brown, clear and green glass bottles and jars (e.g. beverage bottles, food jars, wine bottles)

NO Blue glass bottles, Ceramics, Coffee mugs, Cookware (e.g. Pyrex®), Dishware,Glass art, Glasses (drinking), Light bulbs, Mirrors, Windows.
Fluorescent lights are hazardous waste.

Plastics and Polystyrene:

Recycle all plastic labeled on or near the
bottom with a 1–7 recycling symbol. Empty and rinse containers. Bundle plastic bags inside a plastic bag and knot the top.
Tie foam packing peanuts in a plastic bag.
Beverage bottles (soda, water)
Bleach & household cleaner bottles
Egg cartons
Flower pots
Foam packing (hard packing around computers or stereos)
Food containers (cottage cheese and margerine tubs, yogurt cups)
Plastic bags (bread, dry cleaning, grocery, newspaper, produce, shopping bags)
Prescription bottles
Rigid plastic swimming pools

NO Bubble wrap, Credit cards, Cellophane food bags (e.g. pasta, bagged salad, candy, cookies), Disposable razors, Frozen food bags or pouches, Hoses (e.g. car, garden, appliance), Ointment and toothpaste tubes, Plastic WITHOUT numbers 1–7, Plastic or wax liners from food packaging, Plastic wrap, PVC pipes or tubing, straws, Swimming pools, Tarps, Toys, Utensils, Webbing from lawn furniture. Syringes and sharps are hazardous waste.

Textiles:

If possible, donate textiles to charity. To recycle, tie fabrics in a clear plastic bag. Buttons and zippers can stay on clothing.

NO rags or textiles soiled with chemicals, oil or paint.

Clean cotton, linen, ployester, rayon and wool fabrics (e.g. blankets, clothes, cloth diapers, rags, sheets)

NO Shoes, Carpets, Disposable diapers,
Down-filled items, Leather, Nylon, Pillows,
Rubber, Stuffed animals, Vinyl.
