Extra Garbage

may request extra garbage pick up by calling customer service at least one day
before their collection day. Additional 32-gallon garbage bag(s) must be placed
at the curb next to your WVC&R carts. There is a $5 charge per bag removed.

Used
Motor Oil and Oil Filter Collection
To recycle used motor oil and oil filters curbside,
you must use free West Valley Collection & Recycling-issued
oil jugs and filter bags which are designed to prevent leaks.
Place filled oil jugs and filter bags on the curb near your
recycling cart for collection. To order the free oil jugs
and filter bags, call Customer Service at (408) 283-9250.
After collecting your used motor oil or oil filter bags, the
driver will leave a replacement for what is collected. For
example, if one oil jug is picked up, then one empty oil jug
is left in exchange (up to a maximum of four one-gallon jugs).
If one oil filter bag is collected, then one empty filter
bag is left in exchange (up to a maximum of two oil filter
bags). Remember: oil mixed with antifreeze, transmission fluid,
or any other automotive fluid will NOT be collected. For safe
disposal of other automotive fluids, contact the Santa Clara
Countywide Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program at (408)

Annual
Clean Up
West
Valley Collection & Recycling (WVC&R) will provide an annual clean up
for all single-family residents.
WVC&R
will notify residents by mail two weeks prior to your clean
up date. These are the guidelines that you must follow on
your clean up day:
- All
waste must be left at the curb by 6 a.m.
- Items,
where appropriate, should be placed in carts, cans, bags,
or boxes.
- Tree
prunings and branches cannot exceed 3 inches in diameter,
or be longer than 3 feet, and can weigh no more than 70 pounds
per bundle.
- Items
that cannot be safely loaded by one person will not be accepted.
No single item can weigh more than 70 pounds.
- These
materials will NOT be picked up: hazardous waste, including
waste oil and antifreeze; concrete or dirt; tires; and items
containing CFCs, such as refrigerators or freezers containing
Freon.
